Bozoma Saint John doesn’t just walk—she makes an entrance. And when she sat across from Jimmy Fallon, dazzling in her signature confidence, she delivered a line that instantly became legend: “And I did it all in heels.”

Saint John’s career reads like a corporate fairy tale, except she’s the one writing the script. With an impressive lineup of C-suite roles at Netflix, Uber, Endeavor, Apple Music, Beats by Dre, and PepsiCo, she has consistently broken barriers and set new standards for what a marketing powerhouse looks like. But her path wasn’t just about climbing the ladder—it was about kicking the door open for others.
A Life Lived Urgently
Saint John’s journey hasn’t been without heartbreak. In 2013, her husband, Peter Saint John, was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma and passed away within months. That loss reshaped her approach to life and career.
“Now, it’s really important that I’m urgent because I understand what it really means to live every day fully,” she shared in an interview with OWN. “Now, I don’t wait. You know, if we want to do something, we make sure that we do it.”
Her book, The Urgent Life: My Story of Love, Loss, and Survival, isn’t the playbook on marketing everyone expected—it’s something deeper. She shares the intimate details of her personal tragedies, from the loss of her college boyfriend to suicide to navigating corporate spaces as a Black woman. The message? Move with urgency. Love fiercely. Take up space.
The Legacy She’s Building

Despite her towering success, Saint John’s most cherished role is mother. Her daughter, Lael, is the light that guides her forward. Having lost a stillborn child before Lael’s birth, she calls her “my rainbow baby.”
“I wished on a star for my rainbow baby... and God delivered her,” she wrote on Instagram. “Every time I say her name, LA-EL, it’s a biblical reminder in Hebrew that she belongs to God.”
From orchestrating Beyoncé’s Super Bowl halftime show to redefining global brands, Saint John’s impact is undeniable. She’s not just a marketing guru—she’s a blueprint for ambition, resilience, and fearless reinvention.
So, take notes. Walk boldly. Speak your truth. And if you can? Do it all in heels.
