Previously, Mjeldheim was a successful businesswoman with a million-dollar turnover, but she was imprisoned for fraud.
During her sentence, she encountered a world she had known little about and has since participated in numerous lectures and debates on women's incarceration. As a Red Cross volunteer, she has initiated health and environmental programs for incarcerated women, gaining a deeper understanding of their lives.
Mjeldheim completed her journalism education while serving her sentence and now writes about important social issues. She believes that many inmates have significant stories that deserve to be heard. In her column, she covers life on the inside, reintegration into society, social exclusion, children's upbringing conditions, and cultural challenges and diversity.
